Question

Do Sertoli cells produce sperm?

Open in App
Solution

Sertoli Cells:

  1. A Sertoli cell, sometimes known as a "nurse" cell, is a seminiferous tubule cell found in the testicles that aid in the process of spermatogenesis, or the creation of sperm.
  2. The testicular organ (gonad) in male humans and animals produces sperm cells, which are gametes (sex cells).
  3. They are the seminiferous tubules' nutrient cells. They give germ cells nourishment.
  4. Through direct interaction and by regulating the environment within the seminiferous tubules, Sertoli cells aid in the transition of germ cells into spermatozoa.
  5. Thus, Sperms are not produced by Sertoli cells.
