Do soil degradation and soil erosion have the same causes and impacts

Land degradation is caused due to the massive Deforestation-cutting down trees,Mining-leaves deep scars and traces of over-burdening,Dumping of industrial effluents where as soil erosion is caused by land use,climate,hydrological factors ,type of landform etc.
Impacts are also different like land degredation renders soil unsuitable to agriculture if toxic or removal of top layer,soil erosion may sometimes give rise to fertile soil to new places.
