Do vinegar and salt make hydrochloric acid?

Open in App
Solution

Acid-base reaction:

  1. When an acid reacts with base it forms salt.
  2. Vinegar is acetic acid CH3COOH and simple salt is sodium chloride NaCl.
  3. The reaction between acid and the salt takes place as follows: CH3COOH+NaClCH3COONa+HCl
  4. Hence from the above reaction, we can say that when vinegar reacts with salt hydrochloric acid HCl is produced.
