Solution

Introduction to active and passive smoking

Active smoking is the act of inhalation of tobacco smoke from the end of cigarettes during the act of smoking.

Passive smoking is the inhalation of tobacco smoke from the environment.

The fume that arises from the end of cigarettes is more dangerous as it does not pass a filter that the inhaled smoke (during active smoking) goes through.

Consequences of passive smoking

Inhalation of the tobacco smoke produces multiple health problems in children as well as in adults.

It leads to respiratory problems like coughing, shortness of breath, bronchitis etc.

In severe cases, it can lead to lung cancer.
