  • It feeds by engulfing the food with its body in the absence of sunlight (mixotrophic nutrition).
  • It has a light-sensitive eyespot as in animals.
  • Yet it is neither placed in plant kingdom nor animal kingdom.
  • It comes under the phylum Protista which includes unicellular eukaryotes.
