Substrate level phosphorylation:
Substrate level phosphorylation is the process of formation of ATP by the transfer of phosphate groups from a substrate to ADP, rather from ADP and Pi (organic phosphate).
Substrate level phosphorylation in the TCA cycle:
∙ Conversion of Succinyl CoA to succinic acid is the substrate level phosphorylation that takes place in the TCA cycle.
∙ In this reaction, GTP is formed from GDP and Pi after the removal of CoA from succinyl-CoA
