Do you remember the weighing machine problems a while ago. We weren't able to get the value of x at that time. But we know our trick now, don't we?? What is the value of 'x' from the figure?
2
Since the weighing machine is balanced, LHS = RHS.
13x + 7 = 33
Now to solve this equation, we should have our variable at one side of the equation and a constant term at the other side.
First, let us take all the constants to one side.
13x = 33 – 7
Or, 13x = 26
Now, we need x at LHS and we have 13x i.e. 13 multiplied to x. To get x, we must divide the LHS with 13. But wait, wouldn’t the machine get unbalanced because of this operation. Yes, it will get unbalanced. To avoid this, we have to do the same operation at RHS also.
13x13 = 2613
So, x = 2
