Compost:

1. Composting is a method of disposal of garbage.
2. The kitchen waste (plant and animal waste) can be used as manure for the growth of plants.
3. The conversion of biodegradable wastes into manure is called composting.
4. The manure formed from composting is called compost.

Advantages of composting:

1. Chemical fertiliser is very expensive while compost is very cheap and can be made in our homes.
2. Chemical fertilisers cause serious problems to the environment like air pollution, water pollution etc. But compost does not cause any problems to the environment as well as human beings.
