In living organisms, the genome is stored in long molecules of DNA called chromosomes.
Small segments of DNA, called genes, code for RNA and protein molecules needed by the organism.
The genome is the complete set of DNA of an organism, which includes all its genes.
It is also called the haploid set of chromosomes.
