does a eukaryotic cell and a prokaryotic cell reproduce differently?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

Prokaryotic cells multiply by binary fission that involves simple division of cells into two daughter cells. They reproduce by simple mitosis. They generally do not undergo meiosis but reproduce sexually by the transfer of DNA fragments through conjugation.

Eukaryotic cells (sex cells or gametes)reproduce sexually by meiosis .Somatic cells are produced by simple cell division called mitosis.
