Solution

Heart structure in animals:

  1. Generally, most animals have a single heart. The number of heart chambers varies from species to species.
  2. Fish and insects have just two chambers (one atrium and one ventricle).
  3. Amphibians and reptiles have three-chambered hearts (exception crocodiles).
  4. Lizards are reptiles, so they contain 3 chambered hearts.
  5. Lizards have 3 chambered hearts with left and right atria, and a single ventricle.
  6. Oxygenated blood is delivered to different parts of the body.
  7. There is less mixing of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood to to presence of a partial interventricular septum.
