Question

Does a sunk body at the bottom of a vessel experience an upthrust?

Open in App
Solution

According to Archimedes Principle. When a body is immersed fully or partially in a fluid, it experiences an upward force that is equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by it.
Now since the sunk body has displaced some volume of fluid so it will experience an upthrust equal to weight of fluid displaced.
