Question

Does atmospheric pressure affect vapour pressure?

Open in App
Solution

  1. As from the below diagram, Vapour pressure is a function of temperature.
  2. As we can seen from the below diagram, vapour pressure doesn't have effect on temperature.
  3. Vapour pressure is hardly influenced by the atmospheric pressure because we ignore the intermolecular forces of ideal vapours.
  4. When we discuss real gas, then the intermolecular attraction like attractive or repulsive force in the molecules makes count and then we include intermolecular forces in vapour phase.
