Biomass is the renewable organic matter that comes from plants and animals.
Biomass is the most important fuel that is used for cooking and heating purposes.
Biomass sources for energy include- waste from firewood, wood chips, and various agricultural crops ( corn, soybeans, sugarcane) that produce biofuels, animal manure, and human sewage.
CO2 production by biomass:
Like fossil fuels, biomass burning also produces CO2.
However, the percentage of emissions of CO2 is much lesser than fossil fuels.
Plants that are the source of biomass for energy capture almost the same amount of CO2 during photosynthesis.
