Question

does blood flow against gravity in arteries and veins

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

Veins have valves within them to prevent back flow of blood. Veins do not have as many elastic fibres as arteries. The valves keep the blood from pooling and flowing back to the legs under the influence of gravity. Blood through veins always moves forward and hence the blood go up from toe to upper body parts.
