• They are diploblastic animals therefore, they do not have a coelom (fluid-filled body cavity lined by mesodermic tissues).
• Instead, they have a gastrovascular cavity which is not a true body cavity.
• This cavity is filled with the unspecialized cells known as mesoglial cells.
• This cavity is meant for extracellular digestion and nutrient transport.
