Question

does elevation in freezing point is directly proportional to van't hoff factor ??

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student

Colligative properties are those which are directly proportional to number of particles. As the Van't hoff factor takes into account the actual number of particles depending on association and dissociation of electrolyte.

Depression in freezing point and elevation in boiling points are two colligative properties and hence, their values are directly proportional to Van't Hoff factor.
