does every whole number have predecessor?

Open in App
Solution

Answer :

We know " Whole Numbers are 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ... "

And

Predecessor : The predecessor of a whole number is one less than the given number.

So,

Predecessor of 1 is = 1 - 1 = 0

And

Predecessor of 2 is = 2 - 1 = 1

And

Predecessor of 0 = 0 - 1 = - 1 , but that is not a whole number .

So,

We observe that every whole number, other than zero, has its predecessor.
