Question

Does high boiling point mean high melting point also ?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student, The compounds with high boiling point generally have high melting point. It is because the melting and boiling points are governed by same factors such as ionic character or polarity, Hydrogen bonding and intermolecular forces. Increase in all these, increases both melting and boiling point. Regards
