Question

Does Kc change when equilibrium shifts right or left?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

Qc = product / reactant

So when Qc > Kc , the product is more than the reactant. So for maintaining the equilibrium, the reaction will proceed in the backwards direction means reaction proceeds in the direction of reactants.
when Qc < Kc , the reactant is more than the product. So for maintaining the equilibrium, the reaction will proceed in the forward direction means reaction proceeds in the direction of reductants.
