does magnetic force of attraction works in free open space? Suppose if a magnet is in free open space will it experience magnetic force of earth?

Solution

If the magnet is free in the space with no other force only force due to earth magnetic field then yes it will experience the force and it always point towards the geographical north direction . That's the reason magnetic field of earth is strong enough to divert the solar flare from the sun towards the pole and doesn't allow to enter to the atmosphere. So magnetic field does not require any medium .
