Does monocot or dicot LEAVES have lysigenous xylem?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

Lysigenous means a space arising due to dissolution of entire cell. Lysigenous xylem is usually found in monocots and also in aquatic plants.
In case of a monocot leaf like that of Zea mays, the xylem lies towards upper epidermis, and phloem towards lower epidermis.
Metaxylem is represented by 2 large oval vessels and protoxylem by a lysigenous cavity.
Thus the answer to your question would be monocot leaf.

Regards.
