Question

Does NaCl undergo hydrolysis?

Open in App
Solution

  • NaClis a salt with a strong HCl acid and a strong base NaOH. Because it does not undergo hydrolysis so there is no reaction with water between the NaCl salt ions.
  • NaCl's aqueous solution contains equivalent concentrations of H+ and OH- ions, so it is neutral in nature.
  • At 7 , the pH will stay neutral. This is why a neutral salt is NaCl .
