  1. Carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), and ozone in the lower atmosphere are the principal greenhouse gases whose concentrations are rising.
  2. The greenhouse effect is caused by greenhouse gases, which absorb and emit radiant radiation.
  3. Water vapor, ozone, carbon dioxide, methane, CFCs, and other gases in the Earth's atmosphere are the principal contributors to greenhouse gases.
  4. However, greenhouse gases are not only present on Earth.
  5. It is said that greenhouse gases exist in the atmospheres of Titan, Mars, and Venus as well.
