Solution

The correct option is A Yes, photosynthetic cells also respire
In the process of photosynthesis, organic food is synthesized from inorganic raw materials in the presence of sunlight. The plant cells that perform photosynthesis are called photosynthetic cells.

Respiration is an energy releasing, enzymatically controlled process which involves a stepwise breakdown of food substances inside living cells. It releases energy and biochemical intermediates. The energy is used in the synthesis of ATP and the biochemical intermediates are used for the synthesis of organic compounds that take part in growth, repair and metabolism. Every living cell oxidises its food to release energy. Respiration occurs in all types of living cells, even in the photosynthetic cells. Plants undergo aerobic respiration.
