Open in App
Solution

Reflexes

  1. Reflexes happen without conscious thought or planning, which means they don't involve the brain
  2. When the knee is tapped below the knee cap, the common knee-jerk reaction, also known as the "patellar jerk," is triggered (patella).
  3. Electrical impulses are sent back to the spinal cord by sensors that recognize tendon stretching in this region.
  4. The front thigh muscles automatically get a signal from the spinal cord traveling back along a nerve.
  5. After that, these muscles are stimulated and contract, producing a kick.
  6. The reflex never involves the brain.
