Solution

Definition of work done

When a body moves through a certain distance under the effect of an applied force, work is said to be done on the body. It is given as,

W=FS

where, F is force and S is distance.

Explaining if work done depends upon how fast or slow the body moves

  1. Work done depends upon the distance which the body moves and the force applied to move the body from one point to another.
  2. If force and displacement are constant, the work done will not change based on how fast or slow the body moves.
  3. In other words, work done will not vary if the body takes less time or more time to cover a said distance.

Therefore, the work done in moving a body does not depend upon how fast or slow the body is moved.
