Solution

A Zygote is formed by the fusion of two gametes. A haploid (n) female ovum fuses with a haploid (n) male Sperm to produce a diploid (2n) zygote. Haploid gametes have 23 chromosomes each. After fusion the zygote consists of 46 chromosomes or 23 pairs of chromosomes. Hence, a dioploid zygote formed by the fusion of two haploid gametes do not have the same number of chromosomes as of gametes.
