Does Zinc Rust In Water?

Rusting of Zinc - When the Zinc surface does not have fully developed protective carbonate layer. The Zinc surface have white powdery appearance which indicate the rusting of Zinc.

In water, Zinc shows resistance against formation of white layer(rusting) upto some extent. Thus, Zinc does not get rusted easily in water.
