The nucleus was removed and then inserted into an enucleated egg cell from a scottish blackface ewe. This zygote was allowed to develop into an embryo and then introduced into theuterus of another scottish blackface ewe. Even though the enucleated egg cell and the surrogate mother both were blackface ewes the offspring dolly was born as a Finn Dorset.
