Domestic waste:

  1. Wastes produced due to household activities like cooking, cleaning etc., are called domestic wastes.
  2. Domestic waste is classified into two types namely biodegradable wastes and non-degradable wastes.
  3. Biodegradable wastes are those wastes which can degrade by the action of microorganisms.
  4. Vegetable and fruit peels, food waste, papers etc., are biodegradable domestic waste.
  5. Non-biodegradable wastes are those wastes which do not get decomposed by the action of microorganisms.
  6. Plastic bags, toys etc., are non-biodegradable wastes.
