Draw a circle of diameter 8 cm from a point A,7cm away from its centreO. Construct a pair of tangent to the circle.

Steps of construction :
1. Draw a line segment OA=8 cm.
2.O as centre and radius 4 cm draw a circle.
3. Taking OA as diameter draw another circle which intersects the given circle at B and C.
4. Join A to B and A to C.
Result:AB and AC are required tangents.
AB=AC=5.9 cm.
