Draw a circle of radius 3 cm. From a point P, 7 cm away from the centre of the circle, draw two tangents to the circle. Also, measure the lengths of the tangents.

Draw a circle with radius 3 cm and centre O.

Draw a line segment OP = 7 cm
Make perpendicular bisector of OP which intersects OP at point O’.
Take O’P as radius and draw another circle.
From point P, draw tangents to points of intersection between the two circles.

equals square root of 7 squared minus 3 squared end root equals square root of 40

∴PQ=PR=square root of 40cm
