Step 1 : Drawing a circle of radius $4.2cm$.

• Mark a point O and measure distance $4.2cm$ on compass with the help of a ruler.​
• Put the pointed end of the compass at O and trace the circle.

Step 2: Measuring the length of AB.​

Mark a point A on the circle and join O to A.​​

• Extend the line OA such that it meets at point 𝐵 on circumference of the circle.​

On measuring length of line segment 𝐴𝐵 with the help of ruler we get that it is of $8.4cm$ in length.​
