Draw a circle of radius $4cm$. From a point $7cm$ away from a centre, construct a pair of tangents to the circle and measure its length.

Steps of construction:-

1. Construct a circle of radius $4cm$.
   
2. $P$ is a point $7cm$ away from the centre of the circle.
   
3. Join $OP$.
   
4. Draw perpendicular bisector of $OP$ which intersects $OP$ at $M$.
   
5. Taking $M$ as centre and $OM$ as radius draw a circle which intersects the circle $C_{11}$ at $A$ and $B$.
   
6. Join $PA$ and $PB$.
   

On measuring we find $PA=PB=7.7cm$.

Hence $PA$ and $PB$ are required tangents.
