A chromosome is composed of DNA and protein which is found inside a cell. It contains many genes.

Genes are the part of a chromosome, and made up of DNA. They provide information for carrying out the regular metabolic activity of the cell. They are also the units which are transferred from parents to the offsprings and show the herditary characters.
