AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) is caused by HIV or Human Immunodeficiency virus. It is a retrovirus.
Transmission of HIV: HIV is transmitted from person to person. It is most commonly transmitted by having unprotected sex or by infected needle sharing. It could also be transmitted from an infected mother to baby before or during birth. It is also transmitted via blood transfusion.
Symptoms of AIDS: Early symptoms include a headache, fever, lack of energy. The late symptoms include swollen glands, sore throat, infection with pneumonia, tuberculosis, and hepatitis C. Advanced symptoms include Shortness of breath, chronic cough, severe headache, muscle aches and difficulty swallowing.
