  1. A gold-leaf electroscope consists of a large glass jar with a wooden base.
  2. The lower portion of the jar's inner wall is lined with a thin tin foil.
  3. A metal rod is fitted into the mouth of the jar with the help of a rubber cork.
  4. At the lower end of the metal rod, a pair of thin gold leaves is suspended.
  5. An electroscope can be used for the following purposes to detect and measure the charge on a body and to determine the nature of the charge on a body.
