Stomata:

  1. They are the small pores found on the surfaces of the leaves, that is, they are found in the epidermis of leaves.
  2. They are the pores present in the leaves of the plant, which monitor the exchange of gases during photosynthesis.
  3. The process by which plants utilize water, sunlight, and carbon dioxide to produce energy in the form of sugar and oxygen as a by-product is photosynthesis.

The prime two functions of stomata are:

  1. It helps in the exchange of gases, that is, the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the plants.
  2. It assists in the transpiration of water, that is, the loss of excess water from the plant in the form of water vapour.
