  3. We connect the cell or battery and key between the ends of the coil.
  4. When the key is turned off, current flows through the coil and the bar becomes a magnet.
  5. Opening the key stops the electric current in the coil and the bar loses its magnetism.
  6. Thus, the bar behaves like an electromagnet when the current passes through the coil.
