Definition of lever:

  1. The lever is simply a rod with can move freely about a fixed point called the fulcrum.
  2. A force applied on the lever is called effort.
  3. A force applied by the lever is called load.
  4. The distance of the effort from the fulcrum is called the effort arm.
  5. The distance of the load from the fulcrum is called the load arm or resistance arm.

How the force is reduced by the lever?

  1. The force can be reduced by the lever by increasing the length of the effort arm.
  2. The length of the effort arm is more than the load arm so less force is required to lift the object.
