Step-2: Place the compass pointer at point $A$ and adjust the width of compass to a little more than the distance of $A$ from $m$, and draw an arc across the line intersecting line $m$ at $P$ and $Q$.

Step-3: From each Points $P$ and $Q$ draw an arc below the line so that the arcs cross each other. Mark the point of intersection as $N$.

Step-4: Using a ruler Join $AN$. Now, $AN$ is perpendicular to line $m$.
