Draw a line MN=5.8 cm. Locate a point A which is 4.5 cm from M and 5 cm from N. Through A draw a line parallel to line MN.

Step 1. Draw a line MN=5.8cm.

Step 2. Draw an arc of radius 4.5cm by taking M as center.

Step 3. Draw an arc of radius 5cm by taking N as center and intersect both the arcs at point A.

Step 4. Join AM and AN.

Step 5. Draw DAN=ANM at point A.

Step 6. Produce DA to point C.

Therefore, the required parallel line is CAD.
