Given that,
The line segment of length $7.2 c m$ and divide it in the ratio $5 : 3$

Or,
$5 x + 3 x = 7.2$
$8 x = 7.2$
$x = 0.9$

Hence,
The two segments of the given line will be $5 x = 5 \times 0.9 = 4.5 c m$ and $3 x = 3 \times 0.9 = 2.7 c m$ .
