Draw a line segment $XY=7cm$. Take a point $A$ outside $XY$. Draw a line parallel to $XY$ and passing through $A$.

1. Draw a line $XY$ of $7cm$ and then plot a point $A$ which is outside the line $XY$.

2. From the point $A$, draw another line which is perpendicular to $XY$.

3. Now with $A$ as centre, draw an arc on $XY$ as shown in figure.

4. Now by keeping a point on the arc draw another arc as shown fig. and repeat the procedure from another arc also.

5. Now we will get one intersection point, now draw a line parallel to $XY$ through that intersection point.
