As we can see from the number line below, if we start from 1 and move 5 numbers to the left of 1 on the number line, we reach the number -4.

As we can see from the number line, -1 is to the right of -6 on the number line,

Hence, we should move towards the right of the number line if we are at -6 and want to reach -1.
