45, 65, 75, 35

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Find the integers between which the given fractions will lie on the number line

The fraction 35 and 45 are greater than 0 and less than 1. So, they lie between 0 and 1.

The fractions 65 and 75 greater than 1 and less than 2. So, they lie between 1 and 2.

Step 2: Mark the integers between which the fractions will lie on the number line

Draw a number line and mark the points 0 , 1 and 2 on it.

Step 3: Divide the length between the integers into parts equal to the denominator of fractions

A fraction represents a part of a whole where the part is represented as the numerator and the whole is represented as the denominator.

In the given fractions, the denominator is 5. That means the total number of parts are 5.

So, divide the length between 0 and 1 into 5 equal parts.

Similarly, divide the length between 1 and 2 into 5 equal parts.

Step 4: Represent the given fractions on the number line according to the numerator of the fractions

45 means 1 part out of 5 equal parts between 0 and 1.

Similarly, 65 means 6 parts between 0 and 2 where the length between 0-1 and 1-2 is divided into 3 equal parts each.

Hence, we can represent 45, 65, 75 and 35 on the number line as:
