Draw a segment AB of length 10 cm. Take a point D on it such that AD = 4.2 cm and A -D - B, through point D draw a line DE perpendicular to seg AB.

Steps of construction:

1. Draw AB = 10 cm.
2. Take a point D, such that AD = 4.2 cm.
3. With D as centre, draw a semicircle, cutting the line at M and N.
4. With M as centre and radius more than half of MN, draw an arc.
5. With N as centre and the same radius, draw another arc, cutting the previously drawn arc at E.
6. Join DE and produce, it to both sides to get the line.
