Draw a tangent to the circle with centre P and radius 3.4 cm, from a point Q at a distance of 7.2 cm from the centre of the circle.

Open in App
Solution

1. Draw a circle with centre P and radius 3.4 cm. Take a point Q outside the circle such that PQ=7.2 cm
2. Draw the perpendicular busector of PQ and mark the midpoint as M.
3. Taking M as the centre and MP as the radius, draw a circle and let it intersect the original circle at points A and B.
4. Join QA and QB.

QA and QB are the required tangents.
