The Fire extinguisher-

  • It is a device used to put out a fire.
  • A common form is the soda-acid fire extinguisher.
  • It consists of a metal cylinder filled with sodium bicarbonate.
  • A glass bottle of sulphuric acid (H2SO4) is placed inside which can be broken by striking the knob when needed.
  • Carbon dioxide (CO2) gas is produced which passes through the nozzle and extinguishes the fire.
